PLACES OF PERMANENCE IN A WORLD OF CONSTANT FLUX.
The Sandhill takes its name from the glacial erratics deposited throughout Southeast Michigan 12,000 years ago. As the ice retreated, it left behind massive landforms of sand, gravel, and stone—elevated vantage points that offer perspective over the surrounding marshes and forests.
We design and build with that same sense of permanence. For us, a home is a place of retreat, gathering, and perspective. Combining more than two decades of construction experience with an integrated design approach, we use premium materials and uncompromising craftsmanship to create client-responsive spaces built to endure.

He holds two writing degrees, including an MFA, which informs his methodical, highly organized approach to project management and client communication. In 2016, Benjamin founded The Sandhill with a clear mission: to build custom, client-responsive spaces while redefining the construction experience to be transparent, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable. As Lead General Contractor, he remains actively onsite from design to completion—meticulously editing every detail of the build to ensure the final reality matches the vision. And he really likes dogs.

Vince
Designer, Project Manager, Licensed Mechanical Contractor
For Vince, great spaces are a deliberate blend of art and engineering. Serving as both design coordinator and day-to-day project manager, he is the bridge between the client and the designers, workers, and craftsman on site. Vince’s approach is shaped by two BFA degrees and a rich background in sculpture and industrial design, giving him an innate understanding of materials, structural aesthetics, and spatial harmony. By pairing this artistic foundation with hands-on HVAC service expertise, Vince possesses a unique blend of aesthetic sensibilities and practical mechanical knowledge. From initial sketches to final handoff, he ensures that every detail of a project is well designed, sound, and continuously managed. He also very much likes dogs.
